Every child deserves a strong start

The arrival of a new baby can be amazing and exhausting all at once. Open to all families with a new infant in Santa Fe and Rio Arriba Counties, Great Start Family Support provides three visits during the first month of a baby’s life, providing families with the support they need at a time of momentous transition. During visits, trained professionals make sure that mothers and infants are healthy. Mothers learn what they needs to know about breastfeeding and lactation and screening for postpartum depression assess mental health needs and concerns. Parents and caregivers learn to establish healthy attachment with baby and gain access to resources and opportunities within the community.
