ESCALONES Child Care Business Support

Strengthening child care in New Mexico

With a critical shortage of child care in New Mexico, we believe a key solution to this crisis is to develop a robust and supported system of child care providers.

This includes a special focus on home-based child care (sometimes referred to as family child care) a type of care that features smaller groups of children in a residential setting. Home-based caregivers are often experienced and trusted members of communities and neighborhoods. Despite the crucial role they play, these caregivers are often not recognized or supported.

ESCALONES Child Care Business Support works with hundreds of caregivers throughout the state of New Mexico. To increase the quality of care they provide and strengthen their child care business through five key programs: the Family, Friends & Neighbors program; THE (Training Home Educators) Accelerator; Local and Statewide Provider Networks; Individualized Coaching for Home-based Care; and ESCALONES Rewards.

Our ESCALONES Child Care Business Support programs are listed below. Our team is here to support current and future child care providers in achieving their goals! Please contact us at 505-819-0136 or escalones@growingupnm.org for individualized support, or to answer any other questions you might have about ESCALONES.

Family, Friends & Neighbors program

The Family, Friends & Neighbors program supports home-based child care providers in Santa Fe County. Through on-site support, trainings, and community building, our program increases provider knowledge of child development and early learning, resulting in increased social, emotional, and academic outcomes for children being cared for in home-based settings.

THE Accelerator

THE (Training Home Educators) New Mexico Accelerator is a six month, bilingual program for family and home-based child care providers.

Through this child care business accelerator, participants receive specialized, practical training that includes access to experts, and individualized coaching. It’s all about growing high-quality child care and running a successful business.

Local and Statewide Provider Networks

Provider networks are a place for home-based providers to meet, share resources with each other and problem solve together, in order to better support their growth and professional skills, while engaging with a community of peers. By sharing goals, needs, and barriers with each other, providers have an opportunity to connect with support and resources in a responsive way.
